“Since 2007, our Hotel Law Blog has been a valuable resource for the hospitality industry,” said Jim Butler, author of HotelLawBlog.com and chairman of the Global Hospitality Group® and the Chinese Investment Group™. “We want to share some of the experience and insights our team has gained over the years with our many Chinese clients — particularly regarding Chinese investment in U.S. hotels and real estate.”
The attorneys in JMBM’s Chinese Investment Group™ provide Chinese investors with legal and business advice to make prudent and economically successful hotel and real estate investments in the United States, as well as guidance on corporate structure, formation, tax issues, governance and regulatory compliance. The Group also represents selected hotel, restaurant and other real property owners and developers in structuring investments for Chinese investors using the EB-5 immigrant investor visa program.
Recently, a team of Chinese Investment Group™ attorneys represented Hazens Investment, LLC in the $96 million purchase of the 802-room Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Los Angeles. Hazens Investment is a subsidiary of one of the top 100 largest construction and development companies in China. Other recent transactions include the acquisition of the 244-room Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Harbor Hotel, the 151-room Hampton Inn Newark-Airport, and the 349-room Wyndham Garden Hotel Newark Airport, investments into various U.S. commercial real estate partnership or joint ventures, and the construction and development of a hotel in Manhattan.
